How to delete your account and personal data
You can delete your BeachFinder account at any time. This removes or anonymizes personal data linked
to your account from BeachFinder systems, subject to the exceptions described below.
Option 1 - Delete from inside the app
- Open BeachFinder.
- Go to the Settings tab.
- Scroll to the Privacy section.
- Tap Delete my data.
- Confirm. Your account deletion request is processed immediately by the app.
Option 2 - Email request
If you cannot access the app, send an email to
contact@getbeachfinder.com
with the subject "Account deletion request" and the email address used to sign in.
We will process the request within 30 days and confirm by email.
What gets deleted or anonymized
- Your authentication record, including email and sign-in tokens.
- Your favourites and account-linked preferences.
- Your ratings, reviews, feedback and moderation records where they are linked to your account,
unless we must keep limited records for legal, safety or anti-abuse reasons.
- Links between your account and user-submitted photos.
- Server-side identifiers that can reasonably be linked to your account, where technically possible.
What may be kept
- Approved public photos. Photos approved for a beach or swimming spot may remain in
BeachFinder as public beach content after your account is deleted, but they should no longer be linked
to your account.
- Aggregated or anonymous analytics that are not linked to your email or account ID.
- Crash reports and technical logs for a limited retention period.
- Purchase and billing records held by Apple, Google or RevenueCat. To cancel billing, use your
Apple ID or Google Play subscription settings.
Photo removal: if you want a specific photo removed from BeachFinder, email
contact@getbeachfinder.com
with enough information to identify the photo and spot. We will remove photos that violate privacy,
image rights, copyright, safety or moderation rules.
Retention period
Deletion from inside the app is processed immediately for the account operation. Some backups, logs,
billing records or moderation records may remain for a limited period where technically necessary or legally
required. Email requests are processed within 30 days.
