Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 1, 2026 - BeachFinder mobile app and website
BeachFinder ("we", "us", "the app") helps users discover beaches, lakes and swimming spots,
with weather, sea temperature, UV index, wind, air-quality and marine-condition information.
This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, which providers help us operate the
service, and how you can exercise your rights.
1. Data we collect
- Precise location (GPS), only when you grant permission and only while the app is in use.
It is used to find nearby spots and retrieve local weather/marine data.
- Search and map interactions, such as a place name or map area used to look up beaches.
- Email address, only if you sign in with a magic link. Authentication is handled by Supabase.
- Favourites and preferences, such as saved spots, language, units and theme.
- Ratings, reviews and feedback, if you choose to submit them. Free-text fields may contain
personal data if you decide to include it.
- User-submitted photos, if you choose to upload a photo for a beach or swimming spot.
- Anonymous device/session identifiers, random identifiers used for product analytics,
website analytics, abuse prevention and debugging.
- Website usage data, such as pages viewed, clicks, browser/device information and
session replay signals on our public website, used to improve the product and diagnose issues.
- Crash and performance data, used to diagnose and fix bugs.
- Purchase entitlement information, such as whether Premium is active. Payment details are
handled by Apple, Google and RevenueCat; we do not receive your card details.
2. User photos and public content
If you upload a photo, you confirm that you have the right to share it and that it does not infringe
other people's privacy, image rights or intellectual-property rights. Photos may contain personal data
if people, license plates, private places or embedded metadata are visible.
Approved photos may be displayed publicly in BeachFinder as beach or spot content. If you delete your
account, approved photos may remain in the app as anonymized public content, detached from your account.
Pending or rejected photos, and account links to approved photos, are deleted or anonymized where possible.
You can request removal of a specific photo at any time by contacting us.
