Barbajani extends along the Algerian Mediterranean coast, about 6 km west of Plage Sidna Youchaa and 8 km from Plage Tafsout, in a region where the coastline alternates between rocky coves and sandy stretches. Located in the wilaya of Oran, this stretch of shore faces a generally calm sea in summer, bordered by low cliffs and sparse Mediterranean vegetation. The area remains sparsely developed, characterized by a certain urban sobriety typical of less touristy Algerian coasts. The beach itself is distinguished by its direct access from the coastal road and its less frequented character compared to the nearby beaches of Sidna Youchaa and Tafsout. The shore offers a tranquil atmosphere, far from the summer crowds of neighboring seaside resorts, attracting mainly local swimmers seeking peace. The absence of standardized tourist infrastructure preserves the authenticity of the place, although this sobriety implies a certain rusticity. No supervision service is provided on site. Access for people with reduced mobility is not provided. The beach does not benefit from the Blue Flag. Visitors should plan their visit by bringing water and personal equipment, as Barbajani is intended for local use rather than organized tourism.
The name Barbajani, of Berber etymology, designates a locality on the Oran coast whose history remains intimately linked to Mediterranean migratory cycles. This region served for a long time as a base for local fishermen before the emergence of Algerian coastal tourism. Unlike more famous beaches in the area, Barbajani has maintained a discreet profile, frequented mainly by residents of the surrounding areas who come for an unadorned swim, especially on summer weekends.
