Plage Sidna Youchaa extends along the Algerian Mediterranean coast, about 35 kilometers west of Oran, in the wilaya of Aïn Témouchent. This stretch of northern coast, exposed to the marine influences of the Western Mediterranean, is part of a succession of beaches that dot the Gulf of Arzew. The shore, characterized by rugged coastal topography, alternates between sandy sectors and rock formations typical of the Algerian coastline. The beach itself remains relatively preserved from massive developments, offering a stark contrast to its immediate neighbors. 6.1 kilometers to the west is Plage Barbajani, while Plage DZ and Plage Oued Abdellah are located respectively 8.2 and 9.3 kilometers away. Unlike the latter, Sidna Youchaa retains a more discreet character, less sought after by regional tourist flows. The site offers a Mediterranean bathing experience without standardized infrastructure, with direct access to generally clear and temperate waters depending on the season. No structured services are documented: no toilets, no developed parking, no lifeguard post. The beach does not benefit from the Blue Flag label. Access remains free and informal, reflecting the status of many Algerian shores still little integrated into formal tourist circuits. Visitors must plan for complete self-sufficiency regarding equipment and safety.
The toponym "Sidna Youchaa" draws from the local Arab-Muslim heritage, "Sidna" meaning "our master" or "our lord" in classical Arabic, while "Youchaa" likely refers to a historical or religious figure from the Algerian regional heritage. This coast, integrated into Algerian territory since independence in 1962, bears the traces of a long Mediterranean history marked by the Ottoman and colonial periods. The beaches of this region, long marginalized in national tourist circuits, retain an authenticity linked to the absence of systematic seaside development, unlike the resorts on the neighboring Tunisian or Moroccan coast.
