Remimel 2 stretches along the Algerian Mediterranean coast, about 6 kilometers east of Béni Belaïd, in the wilaya of Jijel. This stretch of the North Algerian coast benefits from direct exposure to the clear waters of the Mediterranean, characterized by a relatively preserved sandy coastline. The shore is part of a succession of small beaches that dot this coastal region, where the inland mountainous relief of the Djurdjura gradually descends towards the sea. The beach itself consists of a strip of fine sand, typical of the Jijel coastlines. Unlike Remimel 1, located just 700 meters to the west, which enjoys more marked local patronage, Remimel 2 retains a quieter and less structured character. Neighboring beaches—Plage DZ at 1 kilometer and 1.5 kilometers respectively—offer nearby but distinct alternatives in their configuration. The site does not offer supervised swimming facilities and remains devoid of formal tourist developments, making it a destination for independent visitors seeking a bathing experience without infrastructure. No blue flag flies here, and the absence of official supervision characterizes this area. Accessibility for people with reduced mobility is not provided. The beach remains freely accessible, without documented restrictions regarding pets.
The name "Remimel" (رميل) literally means "sand" in colloquial Algerian Arabic, a direct and functional designation common for beaches in this coastal region. Jijel, the wilaya encompassing this coastline, carries a long Mediterranean history marked by Phoenician and Roman settlements. This stretch of coast, although modestly documented in contemporary tourist circuits, represents the type of Algerian coastal beach where local inhabitants of Béni Belaïd and surrounding villages regularly swim, far from the concentrated seaside facilities. The area remains little publicized, thus preserving its authentic character as a North African Mediterranean coastline.
