Remiil 1 extends along the Algerian Mediterranean coast, at coordinates 36.8954°N / 6.1557°E, in a region characterized by a succession of small sandy beaches and coves. The shore belongs to this coastal segment where the Mediterranean meets low-lying land, typical of northeastern Algeria. Neighboring beaches dot this coastal strip: Remiil 2 is located 0.7 km to the east, while Béni Belaïd stretches 3.8 km nearby, forming a group of modest but accessible bathing areas. The beach consists of a fine sandy surface, characteristic of the Mediterranean coastlines of this region. The site offers a coastal profile without structured facilities or supervision infrastructure. Access is directly from the shore, without specific provisions for visitors with reduced mobility. The setting remains that of a little-developed coastal beach, where the proximity to Remiil 2 (0.7 km) and Plage DZ (1.8 km) highlights the fragmented nature of this Algerian bathing area. No environmental label has been awarded to this site. Swimming takes place without official supervision. Sanitary facilities, catering services, and parking facilities are not among the available amenities. The site remains a natural beach, without formalized tourist infrastructure.
The name "Remiil" (رميل), meaning "sand" in Arabic, literally designates the constituent material of the coastline. This transparent name reflects the importance of sand in Algerian coastal geography, where sandy beaches punctuate a coastline that is often rocky or rugged. The area, located in the northeast of the country, belongs to a coastal zone historically sparsely populated with tourist infrastructure, retaining a natural and undeveloped character that contrasts with the major seaside resorts of the Algerian coast.
