Kozlu Halk Plajı extends along the Black Sea coast, in the Zonguldak region of Turkey, about 200 km east of Istanbul. This public beach borders a coastline characterized by wooded cliffs and rocky coves, typical of the rugged Turkish Black Sea shore. The area, historically linked to coal mining, retains the industrial imprint of the region, although the coast itself remains largely natural and sparsely built. The beach is distinguished by its direct access and its status as a popular seaside resort for local residents. Located 1.8 km from Kızlar Plajı and 3.4 km from Saklıbahçe Değirmenağzı Plajı, it occupies a central position in a string of coastal beaches. The atmosphere remains that of a neighborhood beach rather than a developed tourist destination, attracting mainly regional swimmers seeking accessible seaside recreation. No formal facilities are reported on site. Swimming is done without official supervision, and access is not adapted for people with reduced mobility. The Blue Flag status does not apply to this beach, which remains a basic seaside facility, devoid of structured shops or services.
Kozlu, whose name derives from the Turkish "kozlu" (rich in pine trees), reflects the characteristic vegetation of the heights overlooking this coast. The town prospered for a long time thanks to the region's coal deposits, and this mining economy shaped the identity of the coastline. Although extractive activity has declined, local beaches retain this community dimension: they remain places of relaxation for families in the region, far from the standardized tourist routes that concentrate crowds on Turkey's Aegean and Mediterranean coasts.
