Ayancık Köyü Plajı extends along the Black Sea coast of Turkey, in the Bithynia region (TR-BLK), about 200 km east of Istanbul. The coastline here is characterized by a succession of small village beaches nestled between wooded cliffs and gentle slopes covered with pines and oaks. The Black Sea, less rough than the Mediterranean, offers generally calm waters, especially in summer. The shore is part of a coastal landscape where isolated coves alternate with open beaches, typical of this part of Bithynia. This village beach is distinguished by its resolutely local character and its lack of standardized tourist amenities. 1.2 km to the west is Ayancık Sahili, a sister beach in the same area, while Ali Köyü Plajı lies 4.5 km to the east. The site offers an atmosphere of coastal tranquility, far from organized tours: sand or pebbles (depending on the sections) form a narrow strip bordered by small family restaurants and fishermen's huts. The absence of supervision and modern infrastructure reinforces this rural authenticity, where visitors mingle with locals coming for a swim after work. No formal beach facilities are reported on this site. The beach is not Blue Flag certified and offers no lifeguard supervision. Access for people with reduced mobility is not arranged. This minimalist setup makes it suitable for travelers seeking an authentic beach experience rather than expecting standardized comfort.
Ayancık, whose Turkish name literally means "little bear," refers to the forest fauna that once dominated these Bithynian coasts. Since antiquity, this coastal region has served as a refuge for Black Sea fishermen and sailors. The village beach perpetuates this tradition: fishing nets drying on the sand and moored boats bear witness to a coastal economy unchanged for generations. Unlike the developed seaside resorts of the Bosphorus, Ayancık Köyü Plajı remains a place where the seasonal rhythms of anchovy and mullet fishing still structure the daily lives of the inhabitants.
