Carbon - La Costa Beach
碳-拉科斯塔海滩（Carbon – La Costa Beach）位于南加州海岸，马里布地区，距离洛杉矶市中心西北约50公里。这段太平洋海岸线以直接插入海洋的片岩和砂岩悬崖为特色，形成了马里布悬崖（Palisades of Malibu）典型的戏剧性海岸线。海滩面向西风和西北风，接收太平洋北部低压系统的全部能量，尤其是在冬季。 海滩本身是细沙表面，与周围的岩石构造形成鲜明对比。与1.2公里和2.4公里外的邻近海滩相比，碳-拉科斯塔海滩更显私密，不如东南方向2.4公里外的比格洛克海滩（Big Rock Beach）那样拥挤。可通过一条狭窄的海岸小径从太平洋海岸公路（Pacific Coast Highway）进入；低潮时，沙滩会显著变宽，露出潮汐池和卵石构造。这里仍然是居民海滩的氛围，而非游客海滩，岸边几乎看不到什么设施。 现场没有永久性设施。海滩未获得蓝旗认证，也没有官方监管。由于地形崎岖和入口小径的坡度，没有为轮椅使用者提供无障碍通道。
About this spot
“碳”（Carbon）这个名字指的是周围悬崖中露出的油页岩矿藏，这些矿藏形成于数百万年前的中新世海洋沉积过程中。这些富含有机化石物质的地质构造在20世纪初引起了石油勘探者的兴趣。马里布地区曾是丘马什人的领地，但在西班牙殖民后，于1920年后转变为一个著名的住宅区。碳海滩（Carbon Beach）尽管名字不那么诗意，但仍然是马里布海岸线上开发密度较低的部分之一，其不稳定的悬崖阻止了邻近海滩经历的大规模房地产开发。
