Playa de Casablanca

Playa de Casablanca stretches along the Andalusian Mediterranean coast, in the province of Seville, close to Marbella and the Costa del Sol coastline. Located at approximately 36.5° north latitude and 4.9° west longitude, this beach borders a sea characterized by temperate waters and gradual depths typical of this part of the Strait of Gibraltar. The shore is part of a coastal area densely equipped with tourist facilities, alternating between sandy coves and small rocky promontories. The beach stands out for its intermediate character within a highly frequented beach constellation. Playa Fontanilla is located 1.1 km to the west, while Playa de Venus, 2.4 km to the east, marks a transition to areas more oriented towards water sports facilities. Unlike its immediate neighbors, Playa de Casablanca retains a less saturated atmosphere, with direct access to a strip of fine sand suitable for summer swimming. The southeast exposure offers relative protection against prevailing winds, while the bathymetric profile allows for a gradual entry into the water. The site lacks official supervision and does not have Blue Flag certification. No major infrastructure is documented in public records, making it a less formalized swimming spot for visitors seeking an alternative to the developed beaches in the area.

About this spot

The name "Casablanca" — literally "white house" in Spanish — evokes the whitewashed buildings that historically characterized coastal settlements in the Maghreb and southern Iberian Peninsula. This nomenclature, common to several Mediterranean beaches, reflects the architectural heritage of trade exchanges between Andalusia and North Africa. The Marbella coast, of which this beach is a segment, has undergone radical transformation since the 1960s, evolving from small fishing villages to one of Europe's most densely developed beach destinations. The old white houses have given way to secondary residence buildings, although some areas like this one still preserve relatively unspoiled access to the sea.
