Located on the south shore of Lake Annecy, in Haute-Savoie, Plage des Marquisats occupies a central position in the string of swimming areas that dot this alpine shoreline. About 1.1 km to the northeast is Baignade CH, while Impérial Beach and Le Pop Beach are located 1.2 km to the east and west, respectively. The lake itself, renowned for its crystal clarity and cold waters fed by glacial torrents, creates an environment where beaches compete in proximity rather than isolation. Unlike its neighbors, this beach is distinguished by its grassy surface, a rare feature on these generally sandy or rocky alpine shores. This natural surface gives the site a more rustic, almost lakeside meadow appearance, where visitors lay their towels on the grass rather than the sand. The absence of supervision and formal facilities reinforces this informal relaxation atmosphere, far from the standardized seaside facilities that characterize certain neighboring areas of the lake. The site does not have Blue Flag status. No major infrastructure—toilets, parking, showers, or dining—is reported. Wheelchair access is not guaranteed. This simplicity is its uniqueness: a grassy beach on the edge of a mountain lake, devoid of tourist amenities but offering direct immersion in the alpine landscape.
