Plage des Marquisats
Located on the shores of Lake Annecy, in Haute-Savoie, Plage des Marquisats occupies a central position on the lake's northern shoreline, just a few kilometers from Annecy. Lake Annecy, one of the purest in Europe, features crystal-clear waters framed by the Northern Alps. The shore here is characterized by alternating grassy areas and small pebble beaches, typical of this part of the lake where the banks gradually descend to the water. Plage des Marquisats is distinguished by its grassy surface, uncommon on the shores of Lake Annecy. Unlike Le Pop Plage, located 1.1 kilometers away, and Impérial Beach, 1.2 kilometers away, which offer more conventional sand or pebble beaches, this site offers a different approach: a real lawn sloping down to the water, ideal for stretching out or setting up a blanket before swimming. The atmosphere remains calm, less densely frequented than its immediate neighbors, offering a more intimate experience of lakeside swimming. Access to the site is free and open to all. Supervision is provided during the summer, from July 1st to August 31st, from 10 AM to 7 PM. No specific facilities (parking, toilets, showers, restaurant) are mentioned in the available data. About this spot
Les Marquisats derives its name from the noble Savoyard Montholon family, who owned land in this region in the 17th and 18th centuries. Lake Annecy itself, formed by Quaternary glaciers, has long been a communication and trade route between Savoie and Dauphiné. Since the 1960s, the lake shores have been gradually developed for tourism and recreation, transforming former agricultural areas into swimming spots. The grassy peculiarity of this site makes it a vestige of this transition, preserving the natural appearance of the banks before systematic development.
