Praia Fluvial de Loriga is a swimming area in Serra da Estrela, near Loriga, in the municipality of Seia. The site is presented as a natural terrace on the mountainside and as the only Portuguese beach located in an ancient glacier. Access is indicated as permitted, the area is lit, and swimming is signaled as supervised. Loriga itself is a freguesia attached to Seia, in the Guarda district, at the heart of a mountainous area. To compare before leaving, several other river swimming spots are nearby: Poço do Lagar at 5.1 km, Lapa dos Dinheiros at 6.6 km, Poço do Caldeiro and Poço da Broca around 7 km.
Loriga is not a maritime beach: it is a river swimming area in the mountains, interesting for those looking for a setting in Serra da Estrela. Remember especially the ancient glacier, the indicated access, the signaled supervision, and the other freshwater spots within a short radius.
