Beverly Beach stretches along the central Oregon coast, about 13 kilometers north of Newport, on the North Pacific coastline. This stretch of shore is characterized by a succession of fine sandy beaches bordered by wooded cliffs and rock formations typical of the region. The Pacific Ocean here is particularly dynamic, shaping a coastal environment where stable sandy areas alternate with zones of active erosion. The landscape remains relatively preserved, dominated by native coastal vegetation and Sitka spruce that descend to the shoreline. The beach itself offers a compact sandy surface, ideal for walking and beach games, with direct exposure to Pacific swells. Located 3 kilometers from Moolack Beach and 7.2 kilometers from Agate Beach, Beverly Beach is distinguished by its less frequented character than its immediate neighbors, while retaining relatively easy access from Highway 101. At low tide, the exposed sand widens considerably, revealing tide pools rich in intertidal fauna and rock outcrops suitable for geological exploration. Access to the beach has no swimming supervision. Facilities remain minimal, reflecting the conservation philosophy of the Oregon coast. The beach does not have the Blue Flag status. Accessibility for people with reduced mobility is not provided. Visitors must anticipate their visit according to tidal cycles, which are particularly significant on this coast where level differences can reach 2 meters.
Beverly Beach is named after the first British settlers who established themselves in the region in the 19th century. The area rests on a complex geological substrate, a legacy of the tectonic movements of the Cascade Range and the Pleistocene glacial cycles. The basalt rocks visible at low tide bear witness to the ancient volcanic activity of the Columbia Plateau. Historically, this coast served as a mooring point for whalers and Russian fur traders before the establishment of permanent settlements. Today, Beverly Beach remains a prime observation point for coastal naturalists, especially during the seasonal migrations of gray whales.
