Located in southern Andalusia, in the province of Cadiz, Playa de Castilnovo stretches along the Atlantic coast of the Strait of Gibraltar, about 80 kilometers southwest of the provincial capital. This coast, characterized by ochre limestone cliffs and alternating coves, belongs to one of the windiest regions in Spain, where southerly trade winds constantly shape the landscape. The area remains largely free from massive tourist development, offering a succession of small beaches that dot the landscape between rock formations and coastal pine forests. The beach itself is distinguished by its direct exposure to Atlantic swells, making it a prime area for those who enjoy dynamic conditions. Unlike Playa de los Bateles, only 2 kilometers away and more protected by its bay configuration, Castilnovo presents a more open and exposed character. Playa de la Fontanilla, 3 kilometers away, and Playa de El Palmar, 3.9 kilometers away, offer alternatives within the same coastal complex, but each has its own morphological dynamics. Upon arrival, visitors are struck by the absence of intrusive commercial structures and the dominance of natural tones: light sand, dark rocks, and Mediterranean vegetation descending to the cliffs. Access remains basic and undeveloped, with no supervision services or formal reception facilities. No environmental certification has been awarded to this area. The beach has no facilities for people with reduced mobility. Its wild character makes it a favorite spot for those seeking a coastal experience without artifice, far from the standardized facilities of neighboring seaside resorts.
