Praia de Redonda

Praia de Redonda stretches along the northern coast of Portugal, in the Douro Litoral region, near Porto. Located at coordinates 41.38°N / 8.77°O, this beach is part of a series of small sandy coves that characterize this segment of the Atlantic coastline. The shore, exposed to North Atlantic swells, benefits from the relative protection offered by the rock formations that dot the coast. The backshore relies on low coastal vegetation, typical of areas exposed to sea spray. The golden sand of Praia de Redonda occupies a narrow strip, squeezed between rocks and the vegetation line. Barely separated from Redonda Beach (0.1 km) and Praia de Carvalhido (0.2 km), it is distinguished by its more intimate and less frequented character than its immediate neighbors. Access is via a coastal path that gradually descends to the shore. At low tide, the sand widens considerably, revealing more accessible swimming areas; at high tide, the space narrows and rocks emerge more. The atmosphere remains that of a local beach, frequented mainly by residents of the surrounding villages. This beach has neither lifeguard service nor accessibility for people with reduced mobility. No facilities (toilets, showers, parking) are reported here. It is not Blue Flag certified. Access remains free and open, typical of small beaches in this part of the Portuguese coast.
