Illinois Beach State Park is a sandy beach in northeastern Illinois, along Lake Michigan, located at coordinates 42.43052, -87.80447. The site is associated with swimming and is part of the Adeline Jay Geo-Karis Illinois Beach State Park, in Lake County. The park includes two units, over six miles of shoreline along Lake Michigan, and approximately 4,160 acres. With the lands to the north, including Chiwaukee Prairie, it forms a large part of the Chiwaukee Prairie Illinois Beach Lake Plain, recognized by the Ramsar Convention. For an outing, it is therefore a lakeside spot in a state park, to be compared with North Point Marina Beach or Waukegan Beach.
