The Calanque du Petit Mugel is part of the string of coves that lace the Provençal coast, between Toulon and Cassis, in the Mugel massif that plunges directly into the Mediterranean. Located in close proximity to Anse du Mugel (0.1 km) and Anse du Sec (0.2 km), this small calanque is part of a remarkable geological ensemble where the white and ochre limestones of the Var coast collapse into steep cliffs above crystal-clear water. The shore here follows the tortured contours of the rock, with narrow accesses and rapidly deepening bottoms. Upon arrival, the intimate character of the site strikes: much less frequented than Figuerolles (0.8 km) or Anse du Cannier (1.5 km), the calanque retains a coastal refuge atmosphere where rock prevails over sand. The water, of remarkable transparency, reveals the seagrass meadows and rocky bottoms typical of this protected area.
