El Puntal Beach, or simply El Puntal, is a large beach and sandbar that closes the entrance to the bay of Santander from the south. It is located in Somo, in the municipality of Ribamontán al Mar, in Cantabria; its northern side is named Las Quebrantas. For today, it is a beach to be read as both a bay element and a swimming place: an extensive sandy tongue, facing the Santander beach system. Nearby landmarks show this close neighborhood: Playa de los Bikinis and El Rostro are at 1.5 km, Playa de la Magdalena at 1.6 km, Playa del Camello at 2 km, Playa de La Concha at 2.5 km, and Playa de Loredo at 3 km. El Puntal is interesting if you are looking for space and marked geography.
El Puntal stands out for its function as a sandbar at the entrance to the bay of Santander. It is not just a beach: it is a strong geographical landmark, to compare with Loredo, Magdalena, Camello, or La Concha depending on your starting point.
