Platja de Treumal
On Spain's Costa Brava, nestled between Lloret de Mar and Tossa de Mar, Platja de Treumal sits at the foot of the estate of the same name—a former private botanical park whose terraced gardens cascade down to the Mediterranean. The cove is modest in size: just a few dozen meters of golden sand framed by the rocky outcrops of the Catalan coast, positioned to enjoy relative shelter from the dominant Tramontane winds. It ranks among the most secluded beaches in this heavily visited summer destination. Access is available either through the estate's gardens (a private path subject to seasonal hours) or via the renowned Camí de Ronda, the historic coastal trail that once connected fishing villages along the shore. Neighboring coves are just a short walk away: Platja de sa Cova at 600 m, followed by Platja de sa Boadella at 800 m—the latter long established as a naturist beach. Continuing toward Sant Feliu de Guíxols, the Camí de Ronda winds past additional coves and headlands. The beach has no official amenities listed on OpenStreetMap: no public restrooms, no showers, no dedicated seaside parking. There is no lifeguard presence or Blue Flag designation. About this spot
The name Treumal derives from the estate and botanical garden developed in the early 20th century by the Bertrand-Mata family. The garden's terraced plantings—featuring palms, cypresses, agaves, and Mediterranean flora—descend to the shoreline in a design inspired by Italian gardens. Today the estate is partially open to the public, providing one of the main access routes to the beach, which remains inseparable in local culture from the garden's distinctive landscape setting.
