La Conchita Beach

About this spot
「ラ・コンチータ」という名前は、カリフォルニア海岸のヒスパニック系の遺産を連想させ、「コンチャ」（貝殻）という言葉の愛称です。1782年にフランシスコ会宣教団を中心に設立されたベンチュラ地域は、沿岸部の地名にこの名称を残しています。この地域は、20世紀に石油産業が景観を形成するまで、長らく農業と海洋資源の採掘が中心でした。ラ・コンチータ・ビーチは、ベンチュラ海岸線の中でも沖合の石油掘削リグがあまり目立たない数少ない場所の一つであり、訪問者に産業化以前の海岸線の姿を垣間見せてくれます。
