Platja dels Eucaliptus stretches along the southern coast of Catalonia, in the Ebre region (ES-E), near the Ebre Delta, one of the most important wetlands in the Western Mediterranean. Located about 2.2 km south of Platja del Serrallo and 6.7 km north of Platja del Trabucador, this beach borders a coastline characterized by low dune formations and coastal vegetation typical of the region, including the eucalyptus trees that gave the site its name. The area, sparsely populated, retains the natural appearance of the delta beaches, with shallow and calm waters, especially in the late season. The beach is distinguished by its undeveloped environment, contrasting with the more developed tourist facilities in neighboring areas. Upon arrival, visitors perceive the tranquil atmosphere of the place, dominated by pine forests and reed formations bordering the backshore. Direct access to the delta's natural trails makes it an ideal starting point for exploring this fragile ecosystem. The variable width of the coastline and the presence of small freshwater channels flowing into the sea give this area a unique physiognomy, distinct from the more standardized beaches of the Catalan coast. No major tourist infrastructure is reported on site. The beach is not Blue Flag certified and swimming is done without supervision. Access remains free, although the area is less frequented compared to neighboring beaches, particularly due to its distance from coastal urban centers and the absence of commercial facilities.
The name of this beach directly evokes the eucalyptus trees dotting the dunes and backshore, a species introduced to Catalonia in the 19th century that has become emblematic of the regional coastal landscape. Located in the Ebre Delta, an area of international importance for migratory birds, the beach is part of a major ecological context: the delta, formed by river deposits over millennia, is one of the last preserved Mediterranean wetlands. Historically, this area long served as a fishing and agricultural zone before gradually becoming a nature conservation area. The persistent presence of small fishing villages and traditional holiday homes testifies to ancient, discreet human occupation that has minimally transformed the landscape.
