Platja del Clot

Platja del Clot stretches along the coast of Castelló, in the Valencian Community, a few kilometers south of Benicàssim. This section of the Mediterranean coastline is characterized by a succession of small beaches and rocky coves, where pine forests sometimes descend to the first few meters of the shore. The area remains relatively free from large tourist developments, offering an alternative to the saturated seaside resorts in the region. The beach itself is distinguished by its discreet character within a very fragmented coastal stretch. In the immediate vicinity, Cala de les Roques (0.7 km away) offers a similar configuration of intimate coves, while Platja de les Salines (1.2 km away) marks a transition towards more open spaces. Unlike its neighbors, Platja del Clot retains a less frequented atmosphere, attracting mainly visitors who systematically explore this part of the Castellón coastline. Access remains easy from the coastal road, but the absence of large parking lots discourages mass tourist flows. No supervised swimming facilities are present on site. Accessibility for people with reduced mobility is not guaranteed. Visitors must come self-sufficient in terms of services, which reinforces the natural character of the place. The area remains non-Blue Flag certified, reflecting its status as a secondary beach in the regional seaside offering.

About this spot

The name 'Clot' evokes in Catalan a small, enclosed plot of land or an enclosed area – a designation that well reflects the fragmented topography of this coastal sector. This region of Castellón, historically focused on agriculture and coastal fishing rather than mass tourism, retains beaches where infrastructure remains minimal. During the 1960s-1970s, when the Costa Brava and Costa del Azahar experienced their real estate boom, coves like this one escaped major construction, preserving continuity with the Mediterranean landscape before the tourist explosion.
