Platja del Fortí stretches along the coast of the Valencian Community, in the Alicante region, near the coastal towns of the southern province. This beach is part of a coastline characterized by a succession of small coves and sandy stretches, punctuated by rock formations typical of the Costa Blanca. The backshore benefits from a gentle topography, with low dunes and sparse Mediterranean vegetation set back from the shoreline. The fine, light sand forms the surface of this modest-sized beach, exposed to Mediterranean influences. Unlike Platja de Fora del Forat, located just 0.7 km away, which offers a more confined configuration between rocks, Platja del Fortí offers a more generous opening. Cala dels Pinets, 1.1 km away, and Cala del Fondo de Bola, 1.3 km away, offer more intimate alternatives, while Platja del Saldonar (2 km) marks a transition to more frequented areas. The shore has a gradual and regular slope, favoring gradual access to the water. The beach benefits from lifeguard supervision during the summer season, ensuring a safe environment for swimming. Accessibility for people with reduced mobility is not adapted. No reception facilities are reported on site, which preserves the natural character of the place while requiring a certain autonomy from visitors.
The name 'Fortí' evokes the ancient coastal fortifications built along the Costa Blanca between the 16th and 18th centuries to repel Barbary raids. These watchtowers and small forts, whose remains still dot the Valencian coastline, bear witness to a time when coastal defense was a strategic priority. Although the ruins of the original fortín are no longer visible, the toponym perpetuates this military memory. This stretch of coastline remains characteristic of the small beaches of southern Valencia, little transformed by massive coastal development, where sand and coves alternate according to the whims of local geology.
