Caddebostan Plajı

Caddebostan Beach extends along the Sea of Marmara coast, in the Boulou region of Turkey, about thirty kilometers east of Istanbul. This part of the Marmara coastline is characterized by a succession of fine sandy beaches alternating with rocky areas, typical of the urban and peri-urban shoreline stretching from the metropolis towards Anatolia. The geographical context places this site in a densely frequented coastal zone, where residential and commercial infrastructure closely follows the shoreline. The beach itself offers a strip of golden sand, exposed to the moderate swells of the Marmara. Its character remains that of a local beach, without major tourist pretension, distinguished from its immediate neighbors by a slightly more spacious configuration. 500 meters to the west is Caddebostan Plajı 2, while 2.6 kilometers to the south lies Bostancı Halk Plajı, more frequented by Istanbul residents. The sand accommodates regular but not overloaded traffic, and the general atmosphere remains that of a place for daily relaxation rather than a prestigious seaside destination. The site has no swimming supervision or Blue Flag certification. No major facilities—parking, toilets, showers, or restaurants—are documented on site. Access remains free and informal, characteristic of less developed Marmara beaches. Accessibility for people with reduced mobility is not guaranteed.

About this spot

Caddebostan derives its name from the Istanbul district that developed during the 20th century along this Marmara coast. The area, historically linked to rural life and small fishing ports, gradually urbanized with the expansion of the metropolis eastward. The beaches of this coastline retain a mixed purpose: summer swimming spots for Istanbul residents seeking relaxation, but also working areas for fishermen who continue to operate there. This duality—between urban leisure and traditional activity—remains palpable in the atmosphere of Caddebostan, where daily coastal life takes precedence over tourist staging.
