Seaside Beach stretches along the Pacific Northwest coast of the United States, in the coastal region of Oregon, about 150 km southwest of Portland. The coastline here is characterized by wooded cliffs that plunge towards a succession of fine sandy beaches, punctuated by basaltic rocks emerging from the surf. The Pacific Ocean, particularly vigorous at this latitude, shapes a wild coastal landscape where coniferous forests descend to the dunes. The beach itself offers a continuous strip of golden sand, relatively exposed to the oceanic swells that characterize this portion of the coastline. 0.9 km to the north lies US-W Beach, while Seaside Cove Beach extends 2.5 km to the south, forming a succession of coves accessible at low tide. The area retains an undeveloped character, where fine sand alternates with wetlands and rock formations typical of the Oregon coast. The atmosphere remains that of an elemental shore, without intrusive tourist infrastructure. No lifeguard service is present on this stretch of coastline. Access for people with reduced mobility is not provided. The Blue Flag status does not apply to this beach. Visitors should anticipate the unpredictable ocean conditions and significant tides characteristic of the Pacific Northwest.
The Oregon coast, formed by Miocene volcanic activity and shaped by Quaternary glaciations, bears the marks of dramatic geology. The beaches in this region, including Seaside Beach, result from the continuous erosion of basalt cliffs and the deposition of marine sediments. Historically, this Pacific Northwest sector served as hunting and fishing grounds for the indigenous Tillamook and Clatsop peoples, long before the establishment of European settlements. Even today, the winter storms that batter these shores recall the raw power of the Pacific Ocean, transforming the morphology of dunes and sandbanks each season.
