Heceta Beach
تمتد شاطئ هيكيتا على طول ساحل المحيط الهادئ في جنوب غرب ولاية أوريغون، على بعد حوالي 4.6 كم من شاطئ بيكر بالقرب من لين. يتميز هذا الجزء من الساحل الملكي بمنحدرات بازلتية شاهقة تؤطر خليجًا محميًا نسبيًا، وهو نموذجي لهذا الجزء الوعر من ساحل شمال كاليفورنيا. يتكون الشاطئ، الذي تشكل عبر آلاف السنين من التآكل البحري، من تناوب كلاسيكي للتكوينات الصخرية وشواطئ رملية ناعمة توجد على طول هذا القوس الساحلي.
About this spot
اسم هيكيتا يأتي من السكان الأصليين كوكيل وسيوسلو الذين سكنوا هذه المنطقة قبل وقت طويل من الاستعمار الأوروبي. تهيمن على الجيولوجيا المحلية البازلت الذي يعود إلى العصر الطباشيري، والذي تشكل خلال ثورانات بركانية قديمة، مما خلق التكوينات المذهلة التي يراها الزوار اليوم. في القرن التاسع عشر، كان هذا الساحل نقطة جذب لصيادي الحيتان وتجار الفراء؛ وكانت حوادث الغرق متكررة، وتحتفظ الشواطئ بذكرى تلك الفترات المضطربة في الحطام العرضي الذي يلقيه البحر.
