About this spot
'코요'라는 이름은 코스타리카 중부 태평양 저지대에 흔한 종인 코요 야자수(*Acrocomia aculeata*)를 지칭하는 스페인 식민지 용어에서 유래했습니다. 과나카스테의 이 지역은 역사적으로 목축업과 자급자족 농업의 영역이었으며, 북쪽의 타마린도와 같은 지역의 대규모 관광 개발을 경험하지 못했습니다. 1980년대 투자자들이 북쪽의 보호된 만에 집중하는 동안, 코요와 그 주변 해변은 여전히 소규모 어부들과 지역 주민들의 영역으로 남아 있었습니다. 오늘날에도 전통적인 트롤선이 정기적으로 이곳에 정박하며, 이 해안선이 매일 생계를 유지하는 사람들에게 속해 있음을 상기시켜 줍니다.
