Plage Tamanart stretches along the Algerian Mediterranean coast, in immediate proximity to the northeastern coastline of the country. Located at coordinates 37°03'N / 6°31'E, this beach is part of a string of coves and inlets that characterize this stretch of shore, where the Tellian foothills gradually descend towards the sea. The area is distinguished by a succession of small fine sandy beaches, separated by low rock formations, typical of Algerian coastal geomorphology between the Tell and the Mediterranean. Tamanart's golden sand offers a regular and welcoming surface, contrasting with the neighboring beaches of Tamanert (0.6 km) and other surrounding coastal coves (0.6 to 0.9 km). Access is from local coastal paths, and the beach retains an undeveloped character, typical of less densely frequented Algerian Mediterranean shores. Exposure to easterly winds makes it a place with variable marine conditions depending on the season, with generally clear water in summer. No standardized tourist facilities are reported on site. Bathing takes place without official supervision, and access for people with reduced mobility is not provided. Blue Flag status does not apply to this beach. Visitors must anticipate their complete autonomy, making it a place frequented by locals rather than organized tourism.
The name Tamanart draws its roots from the Amazigh toponymy of the Maghreb, where the term designates geological formations or place names related to local geography. This Algerian coast, long away from international tourist routes, retains the imprint of traditional Mediterranean lifestyles. The beaches in this region have historically served as anchor points for fishing communities, and Tamanart remains a testament to this ancestral coastal economy, where residents of nearby coastal villages continue to practice artisanal fishing using methods passed down through generations.
