Düzköy Beach stretches along the Black Sea coast, in the Bolu region of central Turkey, about 200 km east of Ankara. The coastline here presents the typical character of the Anatolian Black Sea slope: wooded cliffs plunging towards cold and often rough waters, dotted with small coves and pocket beaches. The region, sparsely populated, retains a rural atmosphere marked by pine and chestnut forests descending to the shoreline. This beach remains modest and undeveloped, reflecting the still wild character of this coastal segment. Its immediate neighbors—Yolağzı Beach at 2.4 km and Asarkaya Beach at 3.9 km—share the same lack of intensive tourist development. Upon arrival, visitors discover a strip of black sand and pebbles typical of this volcanic area, bordered by dense vegetation that lends the place a certain intimacy. The water, a characteristic gray-green hue of the Black Sea, remains cold even in summer, and waves can be vigorous depending on weather conditions. The site has no formal infrastructure: no swimming supervision, no sanitary facilities, no access for people with reduced mobility. No Blue Flag marks this beach. This complete lack of development makes it a place frequented by locals, favored by inhabitants of the surrounding villages rather than organized tourism. Access is via a coastal track from neighboring hamlets, which naturally limits visitor numbers.
Düzköy, whose name literally means 'flat village' in Turkish, remains a small rural settlement in the Bolu region, far from coastal tourist routes. The Turkish Black Sea, unlike the Mediterranean, has never attracted crowds of bathers; its cold water and frequent storms have long discouraged summer visits. However, for locals, these beaches are authentic relaxation spots. Local fishermen know this coast well, where anchovies and mullet are the main catches. Düzköy Beach embodies this forgotten Turkish coast, where swimming remains a seasonal activity and where the rhythm of the tides takes precedence over opening hours.
