Bozköy Beach stretches along the Black Sea coast, in the Bolu region, on the northern Anatolian shore of Turkey. Located about 200 km east of Istanbul, this beach is part of a coastline characterized by wooded cliffs and alternating sandy coves, where pine forests descend to the shoreline. The Black Sea, less agitated than the Mediterranean, offers cooler waters here, with a coastal profile less steep than that of the neighboring mountainous regions. The sand of Bozköy Beach, fine and slightly gray, extends over a moderate width before gradually sloping. The beach occupies an intermediate position in a series of small shores: Çakraz Beach is only 1.5 km to the west, while other beaches dot the coastline up to 5 km to the east. Unlike crowded seaside resorts in the south, this area retains a more discreet character, with significant local patronage. The site benefits from supervision, which reassures swimmers during the summer months. The beach has lifeguards present during the summer season. Road access from the main coastal road remains direct, although parking arrangements are basic. No shower or toilet facilities are reported. The establishment does not display the Blue Flag label. Accessibility conditions for people with reduced mobility are not documented.
Bozköy, whose name literally means 'goat village' in Turkish, reflects the rural history of this Black Sea coast, long kept away from major tourist routes. The Bolu region, formerly Bithynia, was a strategic crossroads for ancient kingdoms, but its northern coastline remains less developed than the Mediterranean areas. Beaches in this sector have seen renewed interest since the 1990s, attracting families from Ankara and Istanbul seeking summer relaxation. Local fishermen continue to use these shores, and nets drying on the sand recall the traditional economy that persists despite growing tourist pressure.
