Plage du Plan extends along the shores of Lake Annecy, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of Haute-Savoie, about 2.6 km northwest of Plage d'Albigny and in the immediate vicinity of two other municipal beaches. Lake Annecy, renowned for the purity of its waters, borders a relatively developed coastline here, with grassy areas and public access to swimming. The shore has a gentle profile, typical of shallow Alpine lakes bordering residential communities. Unlike the sand or pebble beaches of nearby tourist lakes, Le Plan is distinguished by its grassy surface, characteristic of simply developed swimming areas on the shores of Lake Annecy. Less than 900 meters away are Plage CH and, 1 kilometer away, another Plage CH, while Plage de La Brune occupies a similar position. Direct access to the water remains possible, but the absence of a beach in the strict sense gives the place a less touristy and more residential character. The site offers a simple lakeside swimming experience, without spectacular infrastructure. Access to Plage du Plan is free. No supervision is provided on site. Specific facilities such as toilets, showers, or parking are not among the documented amenities. Accessibility for people with reduced mobility is not guaranteed. The Blue Flag status is not awarded to this area.
Lake Annecy, of glacial origin, is nicknamed the 'Chamois Lake' due to the Alpine fauna that populates its shores. Plage du Plan, although modest, is part of the tradition of free swimming that communes in Haute-Savoie have always maintained along this lake. Historically, before the tourism boom of the 1970s-1980s, these grassy areas constituted the only public access to swimming for local residents. Today, they still retain this purpose of local recreation, far from the developed and paid beaches that dominate the lake's tourism economy.
