Ddas stretches along the Algerian Mediterranean coast, at approximately 36°52'N latitude and 4°49'E longitude, in a region where the coastline alternates between small sandy coves and rocky headlands. Located in maritime Kabylia, this beach is part of a fragmented coastal landscape, characterized by often winding access routes and mountainous hinterlands that rapidly descend towards the sea. The Mediterranean displays variable hues depending on the season and weather conditions, while the coastline remains relatively preserved from massive developments. Ddas's shore consists of a strip of fine sand, offering an accessible and clear bathing area. In the immediate vicinity, Timri Llehcene is only 800 meters away, while Thaïs Plage extends 4 kilometers to the east. The area is distinguished by being less frequented than the more famous beaches in the region, retaining a strong local atmosphere marked by the absence of standardized tourist facilities. Direct access to the beach is confirmed, allowing visitors to reach the shore without major obstacles. No bathing supervision is provided on site. Accessibility for people with reduced mobility is not arranged. The beach does not have Blue Flag status. Facilities such as toilets, showers, or catering are not documented, implying a visit prepared with self-sufficiency.
The name Ddas evokes the Amazigh toponymy of the Kabyle coast, a region historically linked to the Amazigh people and their ancestral relationship with the Mediterranean. This coast, long a crossroads for Phoenician, Roman, and Ottoman navigators, retains traces of these passages in its coastal villages and maritime traditions. Maritime Kabylia remains an area where seaside tourism developed late and in a fragmented manner, contrasting with the large complexes of the Algiers or Oran coastlines, which gives beaches like Ddas an authenticity linked to local use rather than mass tourism.
