La Plage du Pélican extends along the north shore of Lake Geneva, in the canton of Vaud, in the immediate vicinity of Lausanne. Located at approximately 46.51°N and 6.57°E, it borders a portion of the lake characterized by calm, deep waters, typical of this large alpine lake. The surrounding shore alternates between small pebble beaches and grassy areas, with the first foothills of the Jura Mountains in the background. Lake Geneva, although of glacial origin, offers relatively temperate water here in summer, suitable for swimming from June to September. This small beach is distinguished by its quiet and undeveloped character, contrasting with the bustle of Plage des Pierrettes located just 300 meters to the east. Unlike the latter, which is more frequented, Le Pélican retains a discreet atmosphere. Plage CH, 1.6 kilometers away, offers a similar experience but in a more assertive urban context. The shore consists mainly of pebbles and fine sand, typical of Lake Geneva beaches. Direct access to the water is easy, and the gentle slope allows for a gradual entry into the lake. The environment remains sparsely built, dominated by riparian vegetation and views of the Alps on clear days. No lifeguard service is provided on site. Accessibility for people with reduced mobility is not guaranteed. Nearby, the Ouchy Old Port swimming area, 4.4 kilometers away, offers more complete infrastructure. The Blue Flag status has not been awarded to this beach. Visitors will appreciate the relative quiet of the site and the absence of excessive commercialization, although this discretion implies complete autonomy for equipment and services.
