Sea Pearl Beach

Sea Pearl Beach extends along the coastline of Bangladesh, in the Cox's Bazar region, one of the most dynamic coasts of the Indian subcontinent. Located about 0.2 km from Sea Pearl Water Park, this beach is part of a coastal area shaped by the alluvium of the Bay of Bengal, where tides play a decisive role in the daily shaping of the shore. The surrounding coast alternates between sandy expanses and rocky areas, typical of this region where the monsoon shapes the landscapes with remarkable force. This stretch of coastline is distinguished by its intermediate character within the local string of beaches. 0.8 km to the northwest, Plage BD offers a similar but less frequented experience, while Inani Beach, 3.4 km away, offers a more eco-tourism oriented ambiance with its characteristic sandstone cliffs. Sea Pearl Beach itself remains an accessible arrival point, where sand gradually meets the waters of the Bay. The atmosphere remains that of a shore shaped by the elements: the salty wind, frequent spray, and harsh brightness that leaves nothing in the shadows. No structured facilities are reported on site: no supervision, no accessible access for people with reduced mobility. The beach does not benefit from the Blue Flag label. Those who venture there must anticipate seasonal weather conditions and respect local swimming practices. The immediate proximity of the water park nevertheless makes it a point of passage for visitors to Cox's Bazar exploring the various facets of the regional coastline.

About this spot

The name "Sea Pearl" evokes marine pearls, a reference to the historical riches of the Bay of Bengal and the fishing traditions that still shape the Bangladeshi coastal economy. Cox's Bazar, to which this area is administratively attached, owes its name to the British Captain Hiram Cox, who established a trading post in the 18th century. The region has experienced accelerated tourist development since the 1980s, transforming fishing villages into seaside destinations. Sea Pearl Beach embodies this transition: neither entirely wild nor fully domesticated, it remains a point of friction between traditional coastal economic activity and the emergence of a modern tourism industry, visible notably in the presence of the adjacent water park.
