Located in northern Asturias, near the Cantabrian coast, Arenal de Morís extends along a coastline characterized by green cliffs and rocky coves typical of this region. The beach benefits from direct exposure to Atlantic swells, making it a dynamically active area. Just 1.1 km to the east, Cala La Huelga o El Portiello offers a more enclosed alternative, while Playa de Beciella, 1.7 km away, offers a similar but slightly less exposed profile. Arenal de Morís is distinguished by its wild and undeveloped character, reflecting the authenticity of the Asturian coast. The natural setting dominates: a beach open to the ocean, without invasive tourist infrastructure, where visitors find a certain intimacy with the coast. Bathing conditions vary significantly depending on Atlantic tides and weather, making this a place particularly appreciated by observers of coastal phenomena and lovers of changing marine conditions. No beach supervision is provided on this sector. Access is not adapted for people with reduced mobility. The beach does not have Blue Flag status. This configuration makes it an area of free access, without standardized comfort services, thus preserving the landscape integrity of the site.
The name "Morís" has its roots in Asturian toponymy, where suffixes like -ís often denote minor hamlets or local microtoponyms. This area of the Cantabrian coast is part of a geological context marked by alternating limestone and schist formations, responsible for the characteristic rugged morphology. Historically, these coves served as opportunistic anchorages for local fishermen, before coastal tourism transformed neighboring areas. Today, Arenal de Morís remains one of the few segments of this coastline to retain its understated appearance, frequented mainly by visitors seeking marine solitude rather than the concentrated tourist flows of nearby resorts.
