Seyrek Plajı

Seyrek Plajı stretches along the Black Sea coast, in the Blackie region of Turkey, about 130 kilometers east of Istanbul. This section of the coast is characterized by a succession of sandy beaches separated by small rocky promontories, typical of this part of the Pontic coast. The hinterland, sparsely urbanized, gives way to low coastal vegetation and gentle slopes descending towards the shore. The beach itself features fine golden sand, relatively untouched by massive developments. Unlike the tourist beaches of the more western coastal region, Seyrek Plajı retains a quieter character, although it is supervised during the season. In the immediate vicinity, other sandy beaches dot the coastline: TR-BLK Beach, 1.3 kilometers away, offers a very close alternative, while Sarısu, 4.1 kilometers away, offers a similar but slightly more isolated experience. Access to the shore is direct and without major obstacles, with a gradual slope into the water. The beach has summer supervision, ensuring a certain safety for swimmers. No specialized equipment for accessibility for people with reduced mobility is reported. The site does not fly the Blue Flag, reflecting its status as a less formally developed regional beach. Infrastructure remains minimal, typical of less densely developed Turkish coastlines.

About this spot

The name 'Seyrek' means 'sparse' or 'scattered' in Turkish, a designation that evokes the fragmented nature of this coastal stretch, where beaches alternate with rocky areas. This region of the Black Sea, less commercialized for a long time than the Mediterranean resorts, retains a certain authenticity. The beaches of Blackie have seen gradual tourist growth since the 2000s, attracting Turkish visitors seeking alternatives to overcrowded destinations. Seyrek Plajı remains a local swimming spot, frequented by residents of the small surrounding coastal villages and travelers using the coastal road connecting Istanbul to the central Black Sea region.
