Located on the Sea of Marmara coast in Turkey, about 70 kilometers west of Istanbul, this beach is part of the Silivri district coastline, a coastal region of Eastern Thrace. The shore is characterized by a succession of small coves and residential beaches, where urbanization has gradually intensified in recent decades. The Sea of Marmara, being inland and relatively sheltered, generally offers calm conditions, although subject to seasonal variations and local currents. This public beach occupies an intermediate position in the chain of seaside developments that dot the Silivri coast. 3.9 kilometers to the northeast is Altınorak Sitesi Önü Plaj, while Semizkum Başkent-4 Site Önü Plaj extends 6.6 kilometers to the southwest. The area remains largely structured around second homes and gated residential complexes, giving the coastline a semi-urban character. Direct access to the water is provided without major leisure infrastructure, reflecting its primarily local and family use. No supervision services are provided on site. Accessibility for people with reduced mobility is not documented. The beach does not have the Blue Flag label. Visitors should anticipate the absence of standardized facilities and adapt their visit accordingly.
The name "Kumluk" literally means "sandy" in Turkish, indicating the nature of the coastal substrate. Silivri, established on the Sea of Marmara strait, retains an ancient maritime history dating back to the Greek colonies of antiquity. Since the 1980s, the coast has gradually transformed into a residential destination for Istanbul residents seeking an escape on weekends. This public beach represents one of the few non-privatized accesses to the sea in an area now largely fragmented into residential properties, reflecting the tension between preserving public access and coastal real estate development that characterizes contemporary Turkish coastlines.
