Playa Reese

Playa Reese is located in the Caribbean archipelago, at coordinates 22°16'N / 77°49'W, in the warm waters of the Caribbean Sea. This coastal region is characterized by a fragmented coastline, dotted with small coves and limestone rock formations typical of the Caribbean islands. The surrounding shore alternates between white sandy beaches and dead coral areas, with dense tropical vegetation in the background. The beach itself offers direct access to the crystal-clear Caribbean waters, in a less densely frequented setting than its immediate neighbors. 5.8 km away is Plage CARIB, which concentrates more tourist facilities. The site retains a wilder character, with direct exposure to the northeast trade winds, making it a popular spot for visitors seeking authenticity. The water, shallow near the shore, warms up quickly under the tropical sun and invites prolonged swimming. No formal infrastructure is reported on site. Access remains free and unsupervised, implying a certain visitor autonomy regarding safety measures. The beach is not Blue Flag certified and has no facilities for people with reduced mobility.

About this spot

Playa Reese is named after a family established for several generations in the Caribbean archipelago. The area, formed by marine erosion on Quaternary limestones, exhibits geomorphological characteristics common to the small islands of the insular Caribbean. According to local accounts, the beach long served as an anchorage for artisanal fishermen before the arrival of organized coastal tourism in the 1980s. Even today, traditional boats are regularly seen there in the morning, testifying to a maritime economy that persists despite the modernization of neighboring tourist areas.
