Moreno Beach

Moreno Beach is located along Lake Perris, an artificial reservoir about 80 kilometers east of Los Angeles, in Riverside County, California. The lake, created in 1973 by the construction of a dam, occupies a desert depression surrounded by ochre hills and sparse chaparral. The body of water stretches over 2,300 hectares, offering a striking contrast with the arid surrounding lands. This region, once crossed by 19th-century trade routes, has become a major recreational destination for Southern California. Located on the northern shore of the lake, this beach is distinguished by its immediate proximity to Perris Beach, only 1.8 kilometers away, while retaining a less frequented character than its immediate neighbors. The shore offers direct access to the lake waters, which are generally calm and clear due to the reservoir's management. The atmosphere remains that of a regional recreational area: the water, regulated by the reservoir's management cycles, varies in temperature according to the seasons, while the surrounding landscape remains arid and mineral, without the coastal vegetation typical of oceanfronts. The site has no swimming supervision or Blue Flag certification. Wheelchair access is not provided. Visitors must bring their own equipment and check access conditions with the management of Lake Perris State Recreation Area, which oversees the use of this area.
