Kdz. Ereğli Belediye Plajı extends along the Black Sea coast, in the Zonguldak region of Turkey, about 180 kilometers east of Istanbul. This portion of the North Anatolian coastline features the typical character of the Black Sea: cold and often rough waters, bordered by wooded cliffs plunging towards the shore. The geographical context places the beach at the heart of an industrial and port coastal area, where mining and steel production have shaped the landscape since the early 20th century. The municipal beach is distinguished by its local purpose and functional layout. Located just 400 meters from Erdemir Plajı and 1.1 kilometers from Plage TR-BLK, it occupies a modest segment of the Ereğli coastline, without major tourist aspirations. Direct access from the city and proximity to water leisure facilities (water park 600 meters away) make it a relaxation spot for residents rather than a resort destination. The setting remains marked by the industrial nature of the nearby port and steel facilities, visible from the shore. The establishment does not benefit from the Blue White Red label and does not offer swimming supervision. No accessibility infrastructure for people with reduced mobility is reported. The beach remains a local swimming area, frequented mainly during the summer season by the local population of Ereğli.
Kdz. Ereğli (Karadeniz Ereğli) owes its historical importance to its coal deposits and its strategic port on the Black Sea. The municipal beach, developed by the local municipality (Belediye), reflects the pragmatic vocation of this port city in Zonguldak: less a seaside resort than public access to the sea for its inhabitants. Since the 1950s, Ereğli has established itself as a major mining center in Turkey, and its public beaches remain integrated into this working-class and coastal identity, far from the tourist imagery of the Turquoise Riviera.
