Çayağzı Beach stretches along the Turkish Mediterranean coast, in the Muğla region, near the Gulf of Gökova. This stretch of the Aegean-Mediterranean coastline is characterized by a succession of small coves and fine sandy beaches, framed by pine forests and coastal scrub typical of southern Turkey. The bay has a semi-enclosed configuration, protected from offshore swells by rock formations and scattered rocky islets. The beach itself offers a relatively wide strip of golden sand, which gradually slopes into shallow waters. The character of this area remains that of a still sparsely populated coast, contrasting with the more significant seaside developments located nearby: TR-MED Beach 0.9 km to the south and Çakıl Beach 2.1 km away, the latter being predominantly pebbly. The general ambiance remains that of a Mediterranean coastal beach without major infrastructure, where fine sand and turquoise water are the main attractions. Access to Çayağzı Beach has no specific facilities: absence of public toilets, showers, or restaurant services. No lifeguard service is provided, and accessibility for people with reduced mobility is not guaranteed. The Blue Flag status does not apply to this beach. Visitors should anticipate an independent visit, without relying on classic tourist infrastructure.
The name 'Çayağzı' literally means 'stream mouth' in Turkish, referring to a small coastal stream that feeds the bay. This part of the Turkish Mediterranean coast, although modestly documented, belongs to a coastal area historically frequented since antiquity, where Greeks and Romans established trading posts. The local geology, marked by limestone formations and alluvial deposits, has favored the formation of these fine sandy beaches characteristic of the Gulf of Gökova. Even today, the beach retains a sparsely urbanized character, frequented mainly by local visitors and travelers seeking direct access to the Mediterranean without the tourist infrastructure of established seaside resorts.
