Platja Port d'en Perris stretches along the coast of Tarragona, in southern Catalonia, immediately adjacent to the rugged coastline of the Costa Dorada. Located about 15 kilometers south of the city center of Tarragona, this small beach is part of a string of coves and inlets that characterize this stretch of the Spanish Mediterranean coast. The surrounding coast alternates between low limestone cliffs and pocket beaches, forming a fragmented coastal landscape where each cove has its own character. The beach itself remains discreet and sparsely populated, contrasting with La Platja, only 200 meters away, which tends to attract more summer visitors. At 500 meters are Platja de la Creu and la Creu, two other small beaches in the area that share the same coastal intimacy. Port d'en Perris retains a resolutely local atmosphere, far from massive amenities: access remains relatively discreet, the space is unstructured, and visitor numbers remain moderate even in high season. The southeast-facing shore makes it a pleasant spot in the late afternoon. This beach does not have the Blue Flag label and remains unsupervised. No major infrastructure (toilets, showers, dedicated parking, restaurant) is reported on site. Access for people with reduced mobility is not provided. The wild and undeveloped character of Port d'en Perris makes it a choice for those seeking a swim without standardized tourist facilities, away from the densely populated areas of the Costa Dorada.
The name "Port d'en Perris" refers to ancient Catalan port structures, where "port" designated a mooring or a small natural harbor, and "Perris" likely evokes a local surname or a fishing family established in the area. This rocky coast has long served as a refuge for traditional boats before the massive tourist development of the 1960s-1980s. Even today, the area retains vestiges of this maritime economy: fishing boats remain moored in the small natural harbors, and locals know these coves as quiet winter swimming spots, far from the bustle of developed beaches. In the late afternoon, when the tourist buses have left the nearby areas, Port d'en Perris regains its original silence.
