Küçük Samanlık Plajı extends along the Aegean coast of Turkey, in the Aydın region, a few kilometers southwest of Söke. This portion of the Aegean coastline is characterized by a succession of small coves and fine sandy beaches, protected by wooded hills that gradually descend to the sea. The bay offers crystal-clear waters in turquoise hues, typical of this part of the Turkish Aegean, where rocky and sandy seabeds alternate depending on the area. The beach itself remains a discreet destination, without intrusive tourist infrastructure. Located just 600 meters from its larger neighbor, Büyük Samanlık Plajı, it retains a more secluded atmosphere. The shore stretches gently, bordered by maritime pines and sparse Mediterranean vegetation. At low tide, the beach widens considerably, revealing expanses of compact sand ideal for walking. Direct access from the coastal road remains easy, although development remains minimal, reflecting the undeveloped nature of this sector of the Aegean coast. No supervised swimming facilities are present on site. The absence of fixed installations—toilets, showers, or designated parking—helps preserve the natural character of the site. Visitors must anticipate their needs before arriving. The beach remains accessible to motorized visitors via informal roadside parking.
The name "Samalık" refers in Turkish to the word "saman" (straw), likely evoking the agricultural lands that once bordered this coast. The Aydın region, to which this coastline belongs, was the heart of ancient Caria, a prosperous territory in Greek Antiquity. Küçük Samalık ("little Samalık") thus distinguishes itself from its larger counterpart, both testifying to the local nomenclature that favors relative size over grand historical appellations. This coast remains little frequented by international tourist circuits, retaining the authenticity of Aegean beaches before development.
