Hanum Villa extends along the southeastern coast of Sulawesi, in eastern Indonesia, in a region where the Flores Sea coastline features a succession of bays and rocky headlands. Located near the Buton archipelago, away from major urban centers, the site is in an area where the coastal geography remains largely preserved. The surrounding landscape alternates between white sandy beaches and limestone formations that plunge directly into turquoise waters. The site functions as a small seaside resort, offering sea access in a less developed context than neighboring beaches. Katembe is located 16.1 km to the northwest, while Pantai Batubanawa, even closer at 16.9 km, marks the beginning of a chain of beaches stretching along the coast. Upon arrival, visitors discover a modest coastal strip, far from the massive tourist infrastructure of northern Sulawesi's coastal areas. The atmosphere remains that of a local resort destination, where the pace is measured and the ambiance detached from mass tourism. No supervision services are provided on site. Access for people with reduced mobility is not adapted. The site does not benefit from the Blue Flag label. Visitors must plan for their own equipment and safety.
Hanum Villa derives its name from a private property that gave its identity to the coastal area. The region of eastern Sulawesi, formed by intense tectonic activity, offers complex geology where limestone and volcanic rocks structure the landscape. The Flores Strait, separating Sulawesi from Flores, has long been a major maritime route for traditional Indonesian navigators. Today, these beaches remain transit points rather than established tourist destinations, thus preserving a certain authenticity away from the well-trodden paths of Java or Bali.
