İnkumu Beach extends along the Black Sea coast, in the Bithynia region (TR-BLK), about 0.3 km from the locality of İnkumu. This part of the northern Anatolian coastline is characterized by a succession of sandy beaches lining a relatively gentle coast, where wooded hills gradually descend towards the water. The Black Sea, less agitated than the Mediterranean, generally offers calm conditions here, particularly in summer. The beach itself consists of a strip of fine sand, exposed to easterly winds that can moderate summer temperatures. Unlike İnkumu, located just 0.3 km away and often more crowded, İnkumu Beach offers a quieter atmosphere while remaining less isolated than Güzelcehisar Beach, 4.9 km away. The shore widens at low tide, revealing an intertidal zone suitable for gradual swimming. The environment remains natural, without intrusive seaside facilities, preserving the authentic coastal character of the area. Lifeguard supervision is provided during the summer season, ensuring minimal safety. No specific facilities (parking, showers, restaurants) are reported on site. Access for people with reduced mobility is not provided. The beach does not fly the Blue Flag.
İnkumu, whose Turkish name literally means "fine bay," refers to the local geography: a small cove where sand naturally accumulates. This region of Bithynia, an ancient Greek and Roman province, retains remarkable geological heritage, with the Pontic hills (ancient Greek name for the Black Sea) shaping the landscape. During archaeological excavations in the 1990s, remains of Greek settlements dating back to the 6th century BC were discovered nearby, recalling the strategic importance of this coast. Today, local fishermen continue to use techniques inherited from this long maritime history.
