Plage Gallice extends along the French Riviera, in the Alpes-Maritimes, near Cannes and the Provençal hinterland. Located at approximately 43.56°N and 7.11°E, this beach is part of the rocky and indented coastline characteristic of this region, where small sandy coves alternate with limestone promontories. The shore, dominated by Mediterranean hills, benefits from a southwest exposure that makes it a preferred anchor point in the local bay. The fine, golden sand of Plage Gallice contrasts with the austerity of neighboring beaches, notably Plage de Ponteil 1.4 km away and Baie des Milliardaires 2.2 km away, which have more mineral profiles. The beach itself offers an intimate atmosphere, without ostentatious infrastructure: a narrow but welcoming sandy strip, bordered by sparse Mediterranean vegetation. Access is via a coastal path, typical of this section of the Cannes coastline where the built density remains moderate compared to the urbanized areas upstream. This space remains devoid of official supervision and does not have standardized amenities. The absence of the Blue Flag label reflects its non-institutionalized character. Accessibility for people with reduced mobility is not guaranteed, as the approach path remains rustic. The beach attracts local and seasonal visitors, particularly during the summer months.
The name "Gallice" likely refers to Latin or Provençal roots designating a local geological formation—possibly a reference to "galère" (galley) or ancient maritime routes. This stretch of coastline, between Cannes and Antibes, long served as a secondary anchorage for merchant ships before the development of modern ports. According to local accounts, the beach has retained its wild character due to the absence of a direct coastal road, unlike neighboring areas transformed by real estate speculation in the 1960s-1970s.
