Beach Baia Blu

Located on the Ligurian coast, about 3 kilometers southeast of Eco del Mare and approximately 4.6 kilometers west of Olivo Pontili, this beach is part of the string of small coves that characterize the coastline of the Gulf of La Spezia. The coast here features rock formations alternating with stretches of fine sand, typical of this northern part of the Italian Riviera where the Apennines descend to the sea. The beach itself offers an intimate character, less frequented than its immediate neighbors. The absence of mass tourist facilities gives it a quiet atmosphere, conducive to those seeking swimming away from standardized seaside resorts. Direct access to the water and the natural configuration of the coast create a preserved environment, where rock and sand coexist according to seasonal variations. No structured facilities are reported on site: no toilets, no dedicated parking, no showers. The beach is not Blue Flag certified and remains unsupervised. Accessibility for people with reduced mobility is not guaranteed. These characteristics make it a place for autonomous swimming, intended for self-sufficient visitors familiar with the Ligurian coast.

About this spot

The name 'Baia Blu' evokes the deep hue of the waters in the Gulf of La Spezia, an area historically strategic since Roman times. This stretch of coastline long served as a natural refuge for coastal boats, before becoming, in the 20th century, a mooring point for local fishermen. The bay retains this discreet vocation: unlike neighboring seaside resorts that developed around organized tourism, it remains a landmark for the region's inhabitants who come here seeking clear water and relative solitude, especially outside the peak summer season.
