Plage Lakssar extends along the Algerian Mediterranean coast, at approximately 36°57'N and 6°38'E, in a region marked by the alternation of sandy coves and rock formations characteristic of the eastern Maghreb. The Mediterranean here displays its temperate waters, closely bordered by Plage ben zouit (2.6 km west) and Plage Ben Zouite (3.6 km), which punctuate a relatively preserved coastline from massive developments. The beach consists entirely of fine sand, exposed to north swells and seasonal Mediterranean winds. Its character remains that of a sparsely populated coastal strip, where light sand extends without major interruption between natural promontories. Unlike the urbanized beaches near the Bay of Algiers, the site retains a rural appearance, with a gentle slope towards clear, shallow waters on approach. No formal infrastructure equips the site: no toilets, showers, parking, or restaurants visible in OSM data. The beach does not benefit from the Blue Flag label and remains unsupervised. Access for people with reduced mobility is not provided. The area remains accessible on an individual basis, without documented restrictions regarding pets.
Lakssar, whose name derives from the colloquial Arabic "lakssar" (the edge, the coastal limit), designates here one of the many anonymous beaches of the Algerian coast, often identified by their geographical proximity rather than a strong urban name. This stretch of Algerian Mediterranean, between Algiers and historical Tlemcen, long served as a mooring point for local fishing boats. At low tide, fishermen from nearby coastal villages still deploy their nets, while families from the surrounding areas discreetly frequent the site, far from the standardized tourist routes of the northern coast.
