Lăng Cô stretches along the central coast of Vietnam, in the Thừa Thiên Huế province, about 80 kilometers south of Huế and 50 kilometers north of Đà Nẵng. The beach occupies a semi-enclosed bay, framed by wooded hills that gradually descend towards the South China Sea. The surrounding coastline alternates between rocky sections and sandy coves, a typical characteristic of this coastal region where the Annamite Range approaches the ocean. The shore consists of fine, light sand that stretches for several kilometers, offering a gentle slope conducive to swimming. The southeast exposure exposes the beach to offshore swells, while the bay's configuration creates calm water areas near the shore. Compared to Lang Co Beach, located just 200 meters away, Lăng Cô shares the same general character but retains a less frequented atmosphere. 2.2 kilometers to the north, Bãi Tắm Lăng Cô represents a more developed variation of the same coastal complex. The sand remains firm and passable even at high tide, while the waters remain relatively clear during the dry season. Access to the beach is free and direct from the coastal road. No supervision facilities are present on site, and accessibility for people with reduced mobility is not guaranteed. The beach does not benefit from the Blue Flag label. Visitors must bring their own equipment and provisions, as the area is devoid of amenities such as toilets, showers, or restaurants.
Lăng Cô derives its name from the Vietnamese "lăng" (tomb) and "cô" (young girl), a toponymy that refers to local legends related to the spirits of the place. Geologically, the bay is part of the Annamite Range extension, whose coastal ramifications create this landscape of coastal mountains characteristic of Central Vietnam. During the Indochina War and the Vietnam War, this coast experienced significant military movements, with the bay serving as a strategic point. Today, Lăng Cô remains a secondary destination on the tourist route connecting Huế to Đà Nẵng, mainly attracting travelers who appreciate less saturated coastal landscapes than the nearby urban beaches.
